The Scotch Boat Sheds are interesting but, except for rowers, are infrequently visited parts of the school’s infrastructure. The viewing of the sheds will be hosted by Head Boatman Lachie Phillips.
Upstairs in the Cardinal Club, Mr. Paul Mishura, the College Archivist, will deliver a short talk on the history of the Head of the River and the development of rowing over the past 157 years. The first Head of the River was conducted between Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar in 1868. The race is the world’s oldest continuous schoolboy rowing event and has grown into a full-scale regatta featuring 25 schoolboy events and 20 schoolgirl events.
