About the club

OSMaD had its beginnings in the Old Scotch Music Club formed in October 2005. Scotch College has an association with Music and Drama which now stretches over 100 years and a warranted reputation for excellence.

Timed to coincide with the completion of the James Forbes Academy, the inception of the OSMC was designed to provide an avenue to allow Old Boys to continue their involvement in music.

Renamed to the Old Scotch Music and Drama to incorporate drama, but now just known as OSMaD, they’ve grown to be a respected musical theatre company in the amateur musical theatre community in Melbourne, known for high quality productions. They give many opportunities for theatre development and craft to the Old Boys and wider community.

A full list of their productions can be found on their website here.

Auditions are held each year around June – please check the website and follow social channels for details.

2026 Production – Titanic the Musical

Join us in December 2026 when OSMaD presents Titanic the Musical.

The sinking of the Titanic in 1912 remains a defining disaster of the 20th century. The loss of 1,517 people, contrasted with the ship’s reputation as unsinkable, defied belief. Beyond the tragedy, it prompted reevaluation of progress and class divisions. The unequal survival rates among passengers highlighted social inequalities and marked a shift in societal values. This event signaled the end of 19th-century ideologies and questioned perceptions of wealth and privilege. The musical Titanic, with a score that can be described as symphonic grandeur, explores these themes through the lens of the ship itself, portraying it as the central character.
