On Friday 24 May, the 166th Cordner-Eggleston Cup was played out at Scotch between the Scotch and Melbourne Grammar First XVIII teams.

OSCA hosted a pre-match lunch for old boy  players  of the decade teams from both schools.  The lunch event is a celebration for parents and friends of the 2024 First XVIII teams, and a reunion for Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar First and Open teams from 1934, 1944, 1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004 and 2014.

Our guest speaker was past Scotch College student, Craig Drummond from the class of 1978.  Craig is President of the Geelong Football Club Limited, Chairman of Transurban Group, Chairman of the Australian Foundation Investment Company and Chairman-elect of the Ian Potter Foundation. Craig was formerly a Member of the Federal Government’s Financial Regulator Assessment Authority, Chief Executive Officer of Medibank Private Ltd, Group Executive Finance and Strategy of National Australia Bank (NAB), and Chief Executive Officer and Country Head of Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Australia). Earlier in his career he was Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of Goldman Sachs JB Were.  He is a lifelong proud and passionate Geelong Football Club supporter.

The day did not end in Scotch’s favour, but it was a terrific representation of APS football, with both teams keeping the huge crowd enthralled throughout the match with their effort and skills.
