Please send us your old exercise book and classroom notes. Although teaching is such a central task within the school it is surprisingly difficult to find out what was taught, and how. Alongside hundreds, even thousands, of accounts of sport and outdoor activities, descriptions of what happens in the classroom are rare. Pupils’ notes and exercise books are thrown out by the rubbish-bin-full, and yet they are an irreplaceable guide to what was taught and how it was absorbed by the boys. Here we show some of the work done by widely separated Old Boys who have had the foresight and generosity to give these items to the archives. |
