Nicholas Miller (April 2004)
A-Sun Names Track & Field Performer-of-the-Week
GSU’s Miller Earns A-Sun Weekly Track & Field Honors

Macon, Ga. – Georgia State’s freshmen Nick Miller was named the Atlantic Sun Track and Field Performer-of-the-Week by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia State’s Nick Miller turned in the conference’s top time in the 5,000 meter run this past week at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Georgia Tech University on Saturday. Miller showed his dominance finishing the men's 5000m run with a time of 14:54.13.

Miller was a state champion in 800 meters (U-23 group) while running at Scotch College. His 800 meters best was 1:55 with a 3:55 in the 1500 meters. At the 3,000 meter distance, Nick logged a best of 8:29. He's also gained experience running events from the 400 meter distance through events up to the 5,000 meter distance.

Whilst maintaining his excellent running career, Nick plans to major in political science, with plans for a law degree.

Robert Padbury (Feb 2004)
Some will remember us writing about Robert Padbury in Great Scot earlier in 2003. For a young man who left school in 2002, Robert was already well on his way. Having designed the OSCAnet logo, the cover of the Collegian, and also having done some work outside school for the Stonnington City Council, as well as winning numerous prizes in exhibitions, it seemed natural that Robert would go into computerised graphic arts.

Robert has also shown an interest in videogames, and is moving to San Francisco in March '04 to study Game Art and Design at the Art Institute of California. He plans to attend some of the major industry events including E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), the International Game Developer Conference and Siggraph, all industry-only events.

Robert also interviews well-known IT gurus and posts them up on the ‘net’, where there is a world-wide following. He has also been a technical editor for Wordware Publishing working on a book on lightwave (I have no idea!), ensuring the content is technically accurate. The book will be released sometime later this year. Robert says he is excited about switching from PC’s to Apples – discovering how computers really should work. He is working some interesting projects, including a short film and animating for a internet television show on internet security called "the broken" (www.thebroken.org), which has recieved a lot of publicity since its beginnings in September of 2003.

Robert is continuing his Kung Fu activities – who knows, perhaps he will be able to digitally enhance Chuck Norris and Jackie Chan long after they are past it!

He also maintains an online web log (a blog) where he keeps a record of his life and all the interesting sites that he finds on the internet.
