 What they are doing now!

Andrew Abercrombie (Feb 2004)

On completion of degrees in Economics and Law, Andrew practised for 8 years as a commercial lawyer specialising in finance, taxation, acquisition & sale of businesses, mortgage lending, and commercial leasing & licensing. After completing his MBA in 1988 in Switzerland, he worked briefly in Mergers & Acquisitions in New York before returning to Australia.

In 1991 Andrew became involved with Flexirent, a company specialising in the provision of point of sale micro ticket finance, predominantly for IT equipment but also unusual items such as water coolers, motorised golf buggies, coffee machines etc. Over the past 13 years, the company has steadily grown in Australia and New Zealand. In 2003, Colonial First State Private Equity purchased a shareholding in Flexirent, at which time Andrew became majority shareholder and took on the position of Executive Chairman. The company continues to thrive under the direction of a newly appointment management team with off-shore expansion a key objective.

Andrew is married to his wife Shadda and has two sons, James and Bayles - both of whom now attend Scotch.
