 What they are doing now!

John Ralston (as of 2003)
Many will know John from his active interest in Old Scotch over many years. He has attended many annual dinners and monthly luncheons and is a great supporter of the School.

John retired from the "rag trade" in 1990, but kept out of mischief by doing consultancy work for the Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers (VCM). He says that this was a very interesting time for him because he had the opportunity to become involved with a number of companies outside of his own experience in the textiles industry.

When the VCM merged with the Chamber of Commerce they stopped the consultancy section and although he continued with some of his "pet" companies, John decided to finally stop working and enjoy more leisure time.

For two years he was Commodore of the Canadian Boat Club in Mt Eliza and is still on the Committee. He now has an 18-foot powerboat, which is used frequently during the summer.

John is also a member of Probus, and of the Peninsula Golf Club, where he still enjoys a fairly regular 18 holes – pretty good going for a man in his mid 70’s. He is also a member of another club well supported by Old Scotch Boys – the MCC.

John has had two very successful hip replacements, but is in very good health, especially to be wandering around for 18 holes!
